You

Tidal Exploration Site, just a 2 minute drive from The Hopewell Rocks
Motel & Country Inn.
Late
July and early August you will witness the sandpipers stop over on
the shore behind the Hopewell Rocks Motel; the Hopewell Rocks Ocean
Tidal Exploration Site. What you see, that looks like shore, is really
covered by tiny sandpipers. |
There
are so many sandpipers; they roost anywhere there is a free spot.
They are roosting and waiting for the tide to go out, and then they
will feed upon the tiny sea-life in the mud. |
Same
place, same birds, but a few have taken flight. A marvel to witness!
These
tiny sandpipers have flown non-stop from their nesting grounds in
Alaska. Here at Hopewell Cape they will rest, feed, and double their
weight, then off they fly to their summer habitat in Venezuela, South
America. |

Albert
County is rich with the covered bridges of yesterday. The reason for
our forefathers building these particular structures was simply to
keep snow off the bridge.
