Sandpipers on the shore behind the Hopewell Rocks Motel   Late July and early August you will witness the sandpipers stop over on the shore behind the Hopewell Rocks Motel; the Hopewell Rocks Ocean Tidal Exploration Site. What you see, that looks like shore, is really covered by tiny sandpipers.

Roost sandpipers   There are so many sandpipers; they roost anywhere there is a free spot. They are roosting and waiting for the tide to go out, and then they will feed upon the tiny sea-life in the mud.

A marvel to witness!   Same place, same birds, but a few have taken flight. A marvel to witness!

A sandpiper rest stop   These tiny sandpipers have flown non-stop from their nesting grounds in Alaska. Here at Hopewell Cape they will rest, feed, and double their weight, then off they fly to their summer habitat in Venezuela, South America.
